Connecting Learning and Community at the Clarion Campus
For Dr. Leah Chambers, education extends far beyond the walls of a classroom. As an
English professor and co-director of the Community Learning Workshop in downtown Clarion,
she has built a bridge between 水多多导航 students and the broader community, offering
free tutoring and educational support for learners of all ages.
Chambers and her team of university student volunteers help children with homework, guide adults through literacy challenges, and create a welcoming space for anyone eager to learn. What started as a small initiative has grown into a vital community resource.
鈥淲e鈥檙e not just providing tutoring; we鈥檙e creating opportunities,鈥 Chambers said. 鈥淓ducation should be accessible to everyone, no matter their age or background.鈥
The workshop鈥檚 impact goes beyond academics鈥攊t fosters relationships and instills confidence in its learners. Chambers believes that education is a powerful tool for equity and social justice, and this program is her way of putting those values into action.
鈥淲hen you see a student鈥檚 face light up because they finally grasp a concept, or an adult proudly count change for the first time, you realize this work changes lives,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not just about learning鈥攊t鈥檚 about empowerment.鈥
